Melbourne HUB
I've spent the last couple of weeks doing some work at the new Melbourne HUB. This has given me the opportunity to do some furniture building, fixtures and fittings and also a bit of detail design.

I designed and built these enclosures for the window boxes using offcuts from the tables. They are to cover the plastic tubs and also prevent them from falling.

MESS: everyday babylon, Semester 1 2009

This studio was based around the theme of surburbia (Rowville) surviving into the future. Current suburban living cannot be sustained with predicted populations. The initial undertaking was a group Urban Mobility Strategy, which looked at how transport and zoning could be re-imagined.

On a zoomed-in level, I plotted the growth of a cluster of properties according to a fractal, reactive growth pattern until future collapse. This was based upon theory of the suburban psyche of putting on extensions and sheds when the need arises. I made architectural insertions in 2009 and 2032 and demonstrated how these could change the development over time and sustain a greater population and yield. These illustrations depict how this suburbia could be inhabited. With the different patches indicating how the space could be inhabited in different times.
